1.) Eat Often. She eats 5-6 small meals each day which she says helps her keep her cravings in check. This happens by not allowing your blood sugar levels dip too low (which happens with prolonged periods without food), and then causes a rapid spike once food (insulin) enters the body.
2.) Splurge a Little. To help keep her on track with a healthy diet throughout the week, Beyonce gives herself one “bad” meal every week. ”Comfort food helps. I allow myself one bad meal every week. Yesterday, I had pizza and wine. There’s too much good out there to never indulge.” I’ve found with my clients (and myself) that when they know they can loosen the reins a bit in a few days, they are much more likely to adhere to a healthy eating plan throughout the rest of th week. Ahem, so there are three phases to the Beyonce Detox Diet.
Phase 1 consists of 3 days of easing into the diet. Day 1 is focused on eating raw fruits and vegetables. Day 2 focuses on eating juices, broths, and soups (getting your body used to a liquid diet). Day 3 you will consume 2 liters of homemade juiced oranges mixed with water. On Day 4, you begin the Beyonce Detox Diet.
This phase lasts anywhere from 1-10 days. What you will need:
filtered water, organic lemons, organic cayenne pepper, and Organic Grade B Maple Syrup, Organic Smooth Move (by Traditional Medicinals) tea, and NON-IODIZED (very important) sea salt.
The night before you begin, drink the tea. The next morning is called the Salt Water Flush (SWF). Mix 1 Tbsp sea salt with 1 quart filtered warm water. Then drink the entire thing. This will very shortly promote a pretty immediate bowel movement so make sure you are ready for it. Drink the tea every night and do the SWF every morning.
Throughout the day you will drink your lemonade. Here is the recipe:
- 2 Tablespoons Fresh Lemon Juice (or freshly squeezed lemons)
- 2 Tablespoons Organic Grade B Maple Syrup
- 1/10 Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper Powder – or to taste (as much as you can stand)
- 8 ounces of filtered water
Be sure to drink it rather quickly after you make it otherwise the pepper makes it super hot. Depending on your current weight and size, you can drink as little as 6 glasses a day or as much as 30 glasses per day. When I did it, I drank 8 glasses each day.
Repeat this daily ritual, drinking a lot of filtered water throughout the day as well, anywhere from 1-10 days. Then, move on to Phase 3.
Phase 3 is just phase 1 in reverse. Your first day in phase 3 will be the same amount of freshly squeezed orange juice. Day 2 will be juiced fruits and veggies, broths, and soups, and day 3 is raw fruits and veggies.

BMI = (weight in pounds X 703) ÷ (height in inches)²
